UPDATE: Once family members had been notified, the name of the victim, long-time Middlebury resident John Cookson, was released.
Middlebury Police Chief Pat Deely said via text on Sunday, May 22, that police investigated a one car motor vehicle accident Saturday, May 21, shortly after 9 p.m. at 141 Three Mile Hill Road in Middlebury.
Responding officers found the lone occupant/operator unresponsive. The officers performed CPR but were unable to revive the person. The identity of that person is being withheld until family members have been notified.
The Naugatuck Valley Collision Investigation Team responded to process the scene. More information will be provided once family members have been notified and the investigation concludes.
