Here, in order by date, are Fourth of July celebrations in Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford and Waterbury. Please note Oxford has moved its Quaker Farms Fire Company Carnival to a later date this year.
Naugatuck: Friday, July 1, at dark, see Naugatuck’s Fireworks Celebration/Festival at Old Firehouse Road in downtown Naugatuck. The rain date is Saturday, July 2. The festival will begin at 6 p.m. with entertainment, food (including food trucks), and a variety of family-oriented activities and culminate with the fireworks display.
Waterbury is offering a couple of events on Sunday, July 3.
- The City of Waterbury Fireworks Display will launch from Holy Land at approximately 9 p.m.
- The Brass Mill Center at 495 Union St. in Waterbury will sponsor a Food Truck and Fireworks Extravaganza from 2 to 10 p.m. in the Macy’s/JC Penney parking lots. Activities will include face painting and more, and 30+ food trucks are expected. The event is free and participants are invited to bring lawn chairs and blankets.
Middlebury: Monday, July 4 – See 3-D Fireworks at Quassy Amusement Park at 2132 Middlebury Road. Special 3-D viewing glasses will be sold for $2 starting in the afternoon with proceeds from the glasses sale benefiting Give Kids the World Village. The nonprofit resort in Kissimmee, Florida, provides week-long, cost-free wish vacations to critically ill children and their families from around the world.
Parking is $20 on July 4. The park will open at 11 a.m. Quassy Beach and “Splash Away Bay” waterpark will operate until 7 p.m. with the remainder of the park staying open until after the evening fireworks.
A special evening beach party will start at 8 p.m. with a disc jockey. Admission to the “Blast At The Beach” is $20 with children – accompanied by an adult – under 45 inches free. All paid guests at the beach event will receive “3-D” fireworks glasses and food and beverages will be available for purchase at Splash Away Bay Café. A limited number of tickets will be available for the beach party and may be purchased in advance using promo code BLAST22 on the Quassy website ticket purchase page. Season pass holders are admitted to the beach event free of charge.
The Middlebury Recreation Area will be open for residents only Monday, July 4, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m. Early table saving is limited to one table per group. DJ entertainment will be provided by Backstreet Entertainment from 5 to 10:30 p.m.
Oxford: The Quaker Farms Fire Co. Annual Carnival will run Wednesday, July 27, to Saturday, July 30, from 6 to 11 p.m. at Oxford High School. Fireworks will be Wednesday and Friday at 9:45 p.m. Credit cards accepted.
