Police file charges against two residents

Middlebury Police, in separate and unrelated incidents February 11 and 12, filed charges against Middlebury residents John Desmarais and Oreste Bona. Desmarais was charged with disorderly conduct; Bona was charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer.

John Desmarais

Desmarais, 52, of 156 Yale Avenue was arrested February 11 after police were dispatched twice to that location. Following the first response about 4:10 p.m. for a verbal domestic dispute, police advised Desmarais, who allegedly was intoxicated and terrorizing a resident, that he would be arrested if he returned. Police were again dispatched to the residence at 6:30 p.m. because Desmarais had returned and was again allegedly terrorizing a resident.

Desmarais was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on a $500 bond and went to court February 14. The judge put a modified protective order in place.

Oreste Bona

Bona, 41, of 63 Bona Road was arrested February 12 after police were called to Pies & Pub because an allegedly intoxicated patron was refusing to leave. An employee told police Bona became angry and began swearing loudly when he was refused service. He continued to yell profanities at the staff in the presence of the officers.

Bona was taken into custody and charged with disorderly conduct and interfering with a police officer. He was released on a $500 bond and ordered to appear in court February 22 at 9 a.m.
