SEYMOUR, Conn. — Nancy V. Guerrera, known affectionately to many as Dolly or Nina, passed away at the age of 99 on Friday, July 12, 2024, at Shady Knoll Healthcare Center in Seymour, Conn. A longtime resident of Oakville and Middlebury, Nancy was born on June 24, 1925, to Henry and Lillian Stella. She was the beloved wife of the late John R. Guerrera, whom she married on May 29, 1947. Together, they shared more than 60 years of love and created a home on Straits Turnpike in Middlebury where they raised their three children. She was a dedicated employee of the Oakville “Pin Shop,” where she and John spent cherished moments skating on the Pin Shop’s pond in years past.

Nancy was a cherished mother, grandmother, and homemaker who had a passion for trying new baking recipes. She had a special fondness for animals, particularly dogs, who reciprocated her love in many ways. Family meant everything to Nancy, and she was known for her generosity and kindness. Her legacy lives on through her daughters, Joan Budshaw of Ormond Beach, Fla., and Jane Cyr of Wells, Maine. Nancy was predeceased by her daughter, Jean Hackenson, but she is survived by a large and loving extended family, including her granddaughters Leia Arold, Rebecca “Birthday Girl” Legen, and Emily Cyr, and grandsons Bruce Hackenson, Blair Baskin, Joshua Cyr, and Jacob Cyr. She is also survived by great-granddaughters Ashlyn Arold, Isla Arold, Skylar Rosengren, and Ada Hackenson, as well as great-grandsons Joseph Legen and Charlie Legen.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, July 18, 2024, at 11:30 a.m. at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at 669 Platt Road in Watertown, Conn.
