State Republican Primary will be August 13

Middlebury registered Republicans can vote on a candidate for U.S. Senator Tuesday, August 13, from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Shepardson Community Center at 1172 Whittemore Road.

They will choose between Gerry Smith and Matthew M. Corey to run as the Republican candidate for U.S. Senator this November. Gerry Smith is from Beacon Falls, Conn., and Matthew M. Corey is from Manchester, Conn.

Absentee ballots are available in the Town Clerk’s office. Connecticut law allows you to receive an absentee ballot if, in your judgment, an absence from your town on Election Day prevents you from appearing at your polling place, or you are prevented from appearing at your assigned polling place on Election Day because of sickness or physical disability (not necessarily your sickness or disability), active service in the Military, religious tenets forbid secular activity on the day of the election, duties as an election official at a polling place other than your own during all of the hours of voting. To receive your absentee ballot please complete and sign an application and return it to your Town Clerk. You can download an application at tinyurl.com/3unw26fz.

Early voting will be August 5, 7, 9, 10 and 11 between 10 a.m. and 6 p.m. or August 6 and 8 between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m. in the registrar of voters office in Town Hall at 1212 Whittemore Road.
