The Middlebury First Selectman’s office issued the following advisory:

Guidance on Public Assistance Damage Reporting Process

The Department of Emergency Services and Public Protection, Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DESPP/DEMHS) is undertaking the initial damage assessment survey from the heavy rainfall and subsequent flooding that occurred between the dates of August 18 and 19. It is very important that we quickly assess the extent of the damages and gather the necessary information to determine if thresholds and criteria are met to be considered under the FEMA Individual Assistance program and/or Small Business Administration (SBA) programs. Guidance on the public assistance damage reporting process will be coming out in the coming days.

To streamline the data collection process and ensure accurate and efficient reporting, we have created a dedicated public self-reporting link for the public to report damages to homes and businesses. This portal will enable us to gather comprehensive information regarding the damages incurred and identify areas where to direct damage assessment teams. This information will still need to be verified through a potential joint preliminary damage assessment in the weeks to come. The DEMHS Regional Coordinators will have access to the damage reports and capability to share with you as requested.
