Connecticut voters wishing to vote early, as voters did for the first time for the presidential preference primaries in April 2024, can do so starting Monday, October 21. Early voting dates will be October 21 to 31 and November 1 to 3. Voting hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., except for October 29 and 31, when the voting hours will be 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. The polling location for early voting for Middlebury voters will be in Room 5 on the lower level of Shepardson Community Building at 1172 Whittemore Road in Middlebury.

Those who wish to vote early must be registered voters. However, early voting allows same day registration, so you may register to vote in person every day of early voting. Those already registered will need to confirm their registrations. Registered voters are given a ballot and an envelope for the completed ballot. Completed ballots are stored in a secure location at the end of each day of the early voting period and counted on election day

The scanned images of the ballots for Districts 1 and 2 are at the end of this article. Only one office on the ballots differs – that of state senator in Column 4. In District 1, voters may choose between Jeff Desmarais (D) and Eric C. Berthel (R). In District 2, incumbent Joan V. Hartley (D) is running unopposed. To look up your district, click here.

Both ballots show at the top a constitutional amendment question that, if passed, would remove the requirement to have one of six excuses to obtain an absentee ballot. If the amendment passes, excuse-free absentee voting will be available to all registered voters.

Voters’ candidate choices will be:

Column 1 – For President – Harris and Walz (D), Trump and Vance (R), Stein and Ware (G), Oliver and Ter Maat (L) or petitioning candidates Kennedy Jr. and Shanahan.

Column 2 – For U.S. Senator – Christopher S. Murphy (D) (WF), Matthew M. Corey (R), Justin C. Paglino (G) or Robert Finley Hyde (CGG).

Column 3 – For Representative in Congress – Jahana Hayes (D) (WF) or George Logan (R).

Column 4 – For State Senator – District 1: Jeff Desmarais (D) or Eric Berthel (R) and District 2: Joan V. Hartley (D) (I).
