Loving and devoted mother, grandmother and sister
Mrs. Marjorie Jane (Herrick) Fontaine, 78, of Middlebury passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, Dec. 17, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. She was the widow of Henry “Hank” Fontaine.
Jane was born in Flushing, N.Y., on July 14, 1940, a daughter of the late Edwin John and Mildred R. (Kearns) Herrick. She was the administrative assistant to the director of student services for the Region 14 school system for almost 30 years and was a treasured friend and colleague. Jane’s Region 14 family was incredibly important to her. She loved her home, which she and her beloved late husband Hank built together. Jane was always welcoming, kind, thoughtful, generous and incredibly selfless. She lived her life with a quiet grace and virtue that is rare. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
Jane leaves to cherish her memory, her daughters, Kathleen Tremose and her husband Stephen, and Patricia Kurze and her husband Jonathan, all of Middlebury; a brother, Lee Edwin Herrick of St. Petersburg, Fla., a sister, Barbara Starr and her husband, Robert, of Franklin, Wis., and her treasured grandchildren, Deana and Aaron Kurze and Kaitlyn and Ryan Tremose; a brother-in-law, Raymond Fontaine and his wife, Carol, of Southbury; and Iris Fontaine of Southbury as well as many other loved ones.
