Loving husband, father, son and brother
Mr. Robert J. Guerrera, 49, of Middlebury, died unexpectedly Tuesday Jan. 29, 2019, shortly after arrival at Waterbury Hospital. He was the loving husband of Michelina DiNicola-Guerrera.
Rob was born in Bristol Aug. 10, 1969, a son of Alice (Sullivan) Guerrera of Woodbury and the late Domenic Guerrera. He graduated from Nonnewaug High School in Woodbury Class of 1987. He worked as a machine operator for Cocchiola Paving of Oakville for over 10 years. Prior to Cocchiola Paving, Rob was a member of the Operator Engineers Local 478 and worked for various companies operating heavy equipment.
He was an avid golfer at both East Mountain and Western Hill Golf Courses, and he played in annual golf tournaments, including the Good Friday, One Toss and the Line Workers of C L & P to name a few with his regular golf buddies. Rob occasionally drove his RV as the official tour bus driver for the St. Patrick Day Crawl for the Police Pipes & Drums of Waterbury. He was a true family man and most especially cherished spending time with his wife, son and loved ones.
Besides his wife and mother he leaves to cherish his memory his son, Robert Pietro DiNicola-Guerrera of Middlebury; two sisters, Domanie Guerrera and Kenneth Daniel of Sharon and Ann Guerrera and William Champagne of Woodbury; a sister-in-law, June Guerrera of Seymour; two brothers-in-law, Leonello DiNicola and his wife MariaLouisa of Watertown and Gianfranco DiNicola and his wife Raelynn of Waterbury; and many nieces, nephews, and a large family of aunts, uncles and cousins, and his beloved pets, George, Dutch and Kohl. He was predeceased by his two brothers, Paul and Mark Guerrera.
His funeral service was held Feb. 2 at Brookside Memorial, The Albini Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Middlebury. There was to be no burial.
