Spring is finally on the horizon! That means it’s time to start thinking about your gardens. The lingering chilly days are the perfect time to start seeds indoors. But where do you begin?

Attend Enya Cunninham’s presentation on seed starting Tuesday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m. at the Gunn Memorial Library in Washington, Conn. Cunningham will cover everything from which seeds to start, when to plant them, how to plant them, what materials and techniques work best, and more!

The presentation will include a demonstration, and the first 25 patrons to register will take home potted seeds.

This presentation kicks off the second season of the Gunn Memorial Seed Library –
a partnership with Steep Rock Association’s Judea Garden. Stop into the library throughout the season and “check out” a package of seeds to plant at home. At the end of the season, harvest the seeds from one of your plants and bring them back to the Seed Library for next season.

Cunningham has been with Back 40 Farm since she graduated from Vassar College in 2015. She was drawn to farm work through a passion for working with her hands and a desire to do meaningful work for the food system. She has become a capable farmer and continues to hone her skills daily. She is passionate about self-sufficiency, interdependence, and finding a free minute off the farm to go birding.

Back 40 Farm is a family-owned business nestled in 85 acres of some of the best farmland in historic Washington, Conn.
