Devoted friend to many

Mr. Kevin R. DeLeon, 63, of Waterbury passed away Wednesday, March 13.

Kevin was born Sept. 25, 1955 in Waterbury, a son of the late Rodney and Marion (Nowie) DeLeon. Raised in Middlebury, Kevin attended local schools and was a graduate of Pomperaug High School, class of 1972 and received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Connecticut.

After returning to Waterbury, he joined Now Inc. to install insulation and weatherproof residential housing. He later established and became co-owner of KD Hall Associates, an insulation company that worked on many commercial building renovation projects. Notable Waterbury projects included insulation of the Brown Building and the Howland-Hughes building. Following a long interest in the culinary arts and restaurant business, he also established and became co-owner of Quench Café. Kevin was very outgoing, friendly, and social. He will surely be remembered for the pig roasts and barbeques he held for his many friends over the years.

Kevin is survived by Debra M. Woods, his partner of 24 years and her sons, David and Daniel and Daniel’s son, Silas Woods (to whom Kevin was his “Baba”); his brother, Rodney P. DeLeon of Middlebury, and his sister, Ariel Zohar of Middlebury. He was predeceased by his sister, Marion R. Johnson.

Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 19, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Bergin Funeral Home at 290 E. Main St. in Waterbury. Burial will be private. To send notes of sympathy and comfort to Kevin’s family please visit his tribute page at www.berginfuneralhome.com.
