At 3:15 p.m. Monday, Connecticut state officials said there were 6,906 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 11:30 a.m. Monday, April 6. This is an increase of 1,231 cases over the 5,675 the day before at 12 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury remained at 10.
On Monday, 1,221 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 206 had died.
The groups with the largest number of cases were ages 50 – 59 (1,390 cases) followed by ages 40 – 49 (1,189 cases) and ages 60 – 69 (1,092 cases).
On a graph showing how many people per 100,000 in each age group are testing positive, the three highest rates of positive tests were ages 80 and older (333 cases per 100,000), ages 40 – 49 (270 cases per 100,000) and ages 50 – 59 (263 cases per 100,000).
The report said a state public health lab tested 2,718 patients, and 645, or 24%, of those tested positive. Statewide, more than 26,686 tests have been reported.
Hospitalization numbers were: Fairfield County had 572 (+41) patients, New Haven County had 384 (+12) patients, and Hartford County had 213 (+24) patients. Other counties had 22 or fewer patients.
