At 5 p.m. Friday, Connecticut state officials said there were 10,538 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 12:30 p.m. Friday, April 10. This is an increase of 754 cases over the 9,784 the day before at 12 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury remained at 14.
On Friday, 1,562 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 448 had died.
The groups with the largest number of cases were ages 50 – 59 (2,115 cases) followed by ages 40 – 49 (1,747 cases) and ages 60 – 69 (1,675 cases).
On a graph showing how many people per 100,000 in each age group are testing positive, the three highest rates of positive tests were ages 80 and older (573 cases per 100,000), ages 50 – 59 (399 cases per 100,000) and ages 40 – 49 (397 cases per 100,000).
The report said a state public health lab tested 3,077 patients, and 865, or 28%, of those tested positive. Statewide, more than 36,288 tests have been reported.
Hospitalization numbers were: Fairfield County had 685 (+21) patients, New Haven County had 493 (+46) patients, and Hartford County had 296 (+20) patients. Other counties had 32 or fewer patients.
