Loving wife, sister, aunt and friend
Mrs. Kathy A. Mehmet, 64, of Middlebury, entered into the Gates of Heaven on Sunday, April 12, 2020, at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the wife of Rosalie A. “Rose” DeSantis.
Kathy was born in Waterbury Aug. 10, 1955, daughter of the late Ralph J. and Dorothy E. (Hopkins) Mehmet. She graduated from Pomperaug High School Class of 1973. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Post College. She was currently working as a supervisor at Haydon Kerk Motion Solutions Inc. of Waterbury for the past 40+ years. Kathy enjoyed gardening, live concerts and time with family and friends. She was a devout Red Sox and UCONN Huskies basketball fan. She never missed a UCONN Women’s game. She was a member of Connecticut River Valley Golden Retriever Club, Yankee Golden Retriever Club and the Southern Berkshire Golden Retriever Club because of her devoted love for the breed.
Besides her wife, Rose, to whom she was married five years and together with for 28 years, she leaves a sister, Karen Dundas, and her husband, David, of Middlebury; her brothers and sisters-in-law, Harry and Lucille DeSantis of Waterbury and Stephen and Marylou DeSantis of Wolcott; her nieces and nephews, Chelsea (Mehmet) Reis and Keith J. and Breanna Mehmet of Norwich, Amy and Jon Kindt of Waterbury, Michelle and Jerry Boulay of Virginia, Nicole and Kenny McCarthy of Old Lyme, and Michael DeSantis and Christopher DeSantis of Wolcott, along with several great nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two brothers, Infant Gary Mehmet and Keith Mehmet, and her niece Chelsea’s wife, Courtney A. Reis.
Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, a private funeral will be held at the convenience of the family. A celebration of Kathy’s life and a memorial service will be held at a later date and time to be announced. Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home has been entrusted with the arrangements.
