Starting today, the daily report will be brief and focused on the numbers in Middlebury and its abutting towns. The state announced today that it will publish brief reports Friday through Wednesday and a more detailed report each Thursday.
At 4 p.m. Wednesday, Connecticut state officials said there were 14,755 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 15. This is an increase of 766 cases over the 13,989 the day before at 11:30 a.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury remained at 18.
On Wednesday, 1,908 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, and 868 had died. The increase in deaths is attributed to catch up of data entry and reporting and not to a change in the trajectory of the outbreak.
Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 18, Naugatuck – 90, Oxford – 43, Southbury – 78, Woodbury – 20, Watertown – 48, Waterbury – 676.
