At 4:30 p.m. Friday, Connecticut state officials said there were 28,764 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 12 p.m. Friday, May 1. This is an increase of 1,064 cases over the 27,700 the day before at 11:30 a.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury increased to 35.
On Friday, 1,592 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 58 patients, and 2,339 had died, an increase of 82 deaths.
Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 35, Naugatuck – 186, Oxford – 60, Southbury – 142, Woodbury – 34, Watertown – 93, Waterbury – 1,355.
