At 3 p.m. Wednesday, Connecticut state officials said there were 30,995 confirmed COVID-19 cases in the state as of 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 5. This is an increase of 374 cases over the 30,621 on Monday, May 4, at 8:30 p.m. The number of confirmed cases in Middlebury increased to 35.
On Tuesday, 1,445 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 55 patients, and 2,718 had died, an increase of 85 deaths.
Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 35, Naugatuck – 206, Oxford – 68, Southbury – 151, Woodbury – 36, Watertown – 104, Waterbury – 1,438.
