COVID-19 Update – August 7, 2020 – 50,320 cases

Due to power outages caused by Tropical Storm Isaias, this is our first report since Tuesday, August 4, 2020.

On Friday, August 7, 2020, Connecticut state officials said on Thursday, August 6, at 8:30 p.m. there were 50,320 COVID-19 cases in the state, an increase of 75 cases since Wednesday, August 5, at 8:30 p.m. The total number of cases in Middlebury increased to 51, with 1 additional probable case.

On Thursday at 8:30 p.m., 65 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 1 patient, and 4,441 people had died, an increase of 4 deaths.

Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 47 confirmed and 4 probable, Naugatuck – 414 confirmed and 11 probable, Oxford – 84 confirmed and 4 probable, Southbury – 197 confirmed and 5 probable, Woodbury – 53 confirmed and 1 probable, Watertown – 151 confirmed and 8 probable, Waterbury – 2,089 confirmed and 90 probable.
