COVID-19 Update – August 24, 2020 – 52,011 cases

In the first update since Friday, August 21, 2020, Connecticut state officials said on Sunday, August 23, at 8:30 p.m. there were 52,011 COVID-19 cases in the state. This is an increase of 492 cases since Thursday, August 20. The total number of cases in Middlebury decreased to 51 (-1).

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 57 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 3 patients, and deaths numbered 4,460, which is no increase in deaths since Thursday.

Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 47 confirmed and 4 probable, Naugatuck – 423 confirmed and 11 probable, Oxford – 85 confirmed and 4 probable, Southbury – 204 confirmed and 5 probable, Woodbury – 57 confirmed and 1 probable, Watertown – 155 confirmed and 9 probable, and Waterbury – 2,144 confirmed and 93 probable.
