Tuesday, September 8, in their first report since Friday, September 4, Connecticut state officials said on Monday, September 7, at 8:30 p.m. there were 53,782 COVID-19 cases in the state. This is an increase of 417 cases since Thursday, September 3. The total number of cases in Middlebury increased to 58 (+3).

On Monday at 8:30 p.m., 50 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 8 patients, and deaths numbered 4,474, an increase of 6 deaths since Thursday, September 3.

Cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 53 confirmed and 5 probable, Naugatuck – 427 confirmed and 12 probable, Oxford – 90 confirmed and 4 probable, Southbury – 207 confirmed and 5 probable, Woodbury – 57 confirmed and 1 probable, Watertown – 167 confirmed and 9 probable, and Waterbury – 2,195 confirmed and 99 probable.
