On Thursday, January 7, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Tuesday, January 5, 2020, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, January 6, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 202,758. This is an increase of 3,304 cases over 24 hours.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 1,087 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 52 patients, and deaths numbered 6,287, an increase of 57 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 421 confirmed (+3) and 35 probable (+2), Naugatuck – 1,899 confirmed and 125 probable, Oxford – 468 confirmed and 25 probable, Southbury – 773 confirmed and 51 probable, Woodbury – 353 confirmed and 20 probable, Watertown – 1,302 confirmed and 111 probable, and Waterbury – 9,178 confirmed and 599 probable.
