On Monday, March 8, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, March 7, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 287,396. This is an increase of 2,896 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, March 7, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 2.63%, up from 1.86% Wednesday, March 3, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 388 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 45 patients since Wednesday, and deaths numbered 7,725, an increase of 32 deaths.
Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 542 confirmed (+7) and 56 probable (+1), Naugatuck – 2,617 confirmed and 218 probable, Oxford – 700 confirmed and 46 probable, Southbury – 1,043 confirmed and 115 probable, Woodbury – 458 confirmed and 49 probable, Watertown – 1,800 confirmed and 194 probable, and Waterbury – 11,974 confirmed and 974 probable.
