Report Highlights

  • Middlebury had 3 new confirmed cases and 3 new probable cases for the four days from Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
  • The cumulative number of cases (confirmed and probable) in Middlebury rose to 708 from 702, an increase of 6 cases, in the latest report from state health officials.
  • Middlebury reported no new deaths from COVID-19; total deaths remain at 19.
  • In the April 29, 2021, report, Middlebury’s rate of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 fell for the second time in a row. The rate decreased to 23.1 cases per 100,000 for the period April 11 to April 24, 2021, (14 cases in week 1; 11 cases in week 2) from 27.7 cases per 100,000 for the period April 4 to April 17, 2021, (16 cases in week 1; 14 cases in week 2).

On Monday, May 3, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 340,545. This is an increase of 2,584 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 1.78%, down from 2.29% Wednesday, April 28, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 342 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 65 patients since Wednesday, and deaths numbered 8,112, an increase of 32 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 622 confirmed (+3) and 86 probable (+3), Naugatuck – 3,134 confirmed and 324 probable, Oxford – 840 confirmed and 88 probable, Southbury – 1,229 confirmed and 214 probable, Woodbury – 557 confirmed and 76 probable, Watertown – 2,171 confirmed and 292 probable, and Waterbury – 14,437 confirmed and 1,527 probable.
