Loving husband, father, brother and friend

Mr. William C. Sheehy III, 61, of Middlebury, passed away peacefully at his home on Monday, May 3, 2021 surrounded by his loving family after bravely fighting cancer this year. He was the husband of Kathleen “Kate” (Martin) Sheehy.

Bill was born in Waterbury on October 17, 1959, son of the late William C. and Margaret (Casey) Sheehy Jr., and grew up in Middlebury. He graduated from Holy Cross High School, and Bentley College, where he earned his bachelor’s degree and made a group of beloved lifelong friends. Bill was the third generation owner of James S. Sullivan Cable Company. He was a longtime member of the Country Club of Waterbury, an avid golfer and loved to walk in the woods with his dogs, especially by his second home in Vermont.

Besides his wife, Kate, of 32 years, Bill leaves to honor and cherish his memory his children; Sara Sheehy Rice and her husband, Adam Rice, of New York City; William C. Sheehy IV of San Francisco; and Samuel Sheehy of New York City; and his siblings, John Sheehy and his wife, Susan, of New Milford and Elizabeth Sheehy of Waterbury.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, May 7, at 10 a.m. at the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Calling hour will be held Friday from 8 to 9 a.m. at Brookside Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home & Crematory at 200 Benson Road in Middlebury.
