This is an increase of 1,737 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 1.92%, up from 1.78% Sunday, May 2, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.
On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 324 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 18 patients since Sunday, and deaths numbered 8,131, an increase of 19 deaths.
Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 623 confirmed (+1) and 86 probable (no change), Naugatuck – 3,147 confirmed and 323 probable, Oxford – 842 confirmed and 89 probable, Southbury – 1,230 confirmed and 215 probable, Woodbury – 557 confirmed and 77 probable, Watertown – 2,182 confirmed and 296 probable, and Waterbury – 14,546 confirmed and 1,546 probable.
