Report Highlights

  • Middlebury had 4 new confirmed cases and 1 new probable case for the four days from Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, May 9, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

  • Middlebury reported no new deaths from COVID-19; total deaths remain at 19.
  • In a May 6, 2021, report, Middlebury’s rate of COVID-19 cases per 100,000 fell for the third time in a row. The rate decreased to 16.6  cases per 100,000 for the period April 18 to May 1, 2021, (11 cases in week 1; 7 cases in week 2) from 23.1 cases per 100,000 for the period April 11 to April 24, 2021, (14 cases in week 1; 11 cases in week 2).

On Monday, May 10, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, May 9, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 343,545. This is an increase of 1,263 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, May 9, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 1.41%, down from 1.92% Wednesday, May 5, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 280 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, a decrease of 44 patients since Wednesday, and deaths numbered 8,154, an increase of 23 deaths.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 627 confirmed (+4) and 87 probable (+1), Naugatuck – 3,158 confirmed and 327 probable, Oxford – 845 confirmed and 88 probable, Southbury – 1,233 confirmed and 216 probable, Woodbury – 561 confirmed and 77 probable, Watertown – 2,184 confirmed and 298 probable, and Waterbury – 14,597 confirmed and 1,567 probable.
