Philip Benevento History Internship

Waterbury, CT — The Mattatuck Museum in Waterbury, Connecticut is seeking a summer intern to work in the Museum Archives. The Mattatuck Museum has a dual mission presenting both art and local history with manuscript, printed and photographic archives dating from the late 17th century to the present.

The selected intern will work three days a week for six weeks during the summer, alongside the Museum Archivist. The goal is for the intern to produce a work of scholarship (either oral or written) drawing on the resources in the Museum Archives. This year’s focus will be on assisting with research and planning for “A History of Photography in Waterbury,” an exhibition being presented in the History Gallery in the Fall.

The intern will be paid a stipend of $1,000 upon completion of his/her work over the summer.

Requirements:

  • Applicants should have a major field related to history, urban studies, American studies,
    or library science.
  • Applicants must submit a resume and a cover letter stating areas of research/study
    interest and career goals.
  • A curious mind and quality writing ability are especially desirable.

Preference will be given to applicants who live in Waterbury or are current college students in Waterbury.

The deadline for applying is June 15, 2021.
