CLINTON, Conn. — June 2, 2021 — Connecticut Water has partnered with Upcycle Products to provide customers and noncustomers in towns serviced by the company the opportunity to purchase rain barrels at a discount and have them shipped directly to their homes.

Customers can visit https://upcycle-products.com/ct/cwc/ to purchase a rain barrel at a $79 cost, which includes delivery fees. Other rain barrel accessories and products are available as well.

“Capturing and storing rain water for outdoor watering is a great way to ease the stress on public drinking water sources during periods of dry weather, especially in small water systems that have limited supply,” said Maureen Westbrook, president of Connecticut Water. She added, “We are pleased to offer rain barrels through a volume discount and provide an incentive for the first 50 customers who purchase through the program.” Customers are not subsidizing the rain barrel program and it is open to anyone including noncustomers.

In addition to conserving tap water, rain barrels help to:

  • Conserve the energy that would otherwise be needed to pump water from the source, through the treatment process and out to the tap
  • Reduce storm water runoff to storm drains that in some communities may also be treated in wastewater water treatment facility

The website will be available through October 15, 2021 for those who would like to purchase.

Additionally, to encourage conservation, Connecticut Water will offer a $25 bill credit to the first 50 customers who email their purchase confirmation to customerservice@ctwater.com.

Connecticut Water is a public water and wastewater utility regulated by the Connecticut Public Utilities Regulatory Authority that provides water service to more than 350,000 people in 60 Connecticut communities and wastewater service to 10,000 people in Southbury, Connecticut. Towns in our readership area served by the company are Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford, Southbury, and Waterbury.
