Middlebury residents will find roads closed June 6 and 7 due to the REV3 Triathlon, which is being hosted at Quassy Amusement Park in Middlebury. Bicyclists and runners will travel on public roads from the amusement park into Woodbury and on to other towns and then back through Woodbury to Middlebury.
The following road closures will affect Middlebury:
Route 64 between Route 188 and the Woodbury Town line. Officers will be posted at various intersections within the closed area to allow residents access to their homes. Roads will be blocked at Tranquility Road/Charcoal Road, Tranquility Road and Route 64, Christian Road and Route 64, Christian Road and Route 188, and Christian Road and Judd Hill Road.
In addition, there will be a contingent of officers at the entrance to Quassy Amusement Park on Route. 64. A staffed, operational police command post will be located at the Middlebury Recreational Area on Route 64 for the aforementioned dates.
The annual REV3 Triathlon usually draws in excess of 500 participants and numerous spectators. This year’s event will start June 6 at approximately 5:30 a.m. with a 9/10-mile swim at the lake. Immediately following the swim will be an olympic run and bike race comprised of both professional and amateur triathletes.
Residents of Middlebury, Southbury, Woodbury, Watertown, Bethlehem, Morris, and Litchfield should expect some delays on both dates. The delays will conclude Saturday, June 6, at approximately 1:30 p.m. and Sunday, June 7, at approximately 4 p.m. Local and state police will staff the event along with other public safety personnel. Some traffic disruptions are expected.
