On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 155 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 7 patients since Sunday. Through Wednesday, August 4, deaths numbered 8,296, an increase of 3 deaths since July 28. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 636 confirmed and 97 probable, Naugatuck – 3,258 confirmed and 379 probable, Oxford – 878 confirmed and 92 probable, Southbury – 1,266 confirmed and 240 probable, Woodbury – 574 confirmed and 83 probable, Watertown – 2,232 confirmed and 318 probable, and Waterbury – 15,019 confirmed and 1,791 probable.
