On Thursday, August 12, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., the number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 361,294. This is an increase of 1,931 cases over three days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 3.52%, up from 3.33% Sunday, August 8, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Wednesday at 8:30 p.m., 247 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 39 patients since Sunday. Through Wednesday, August 11, deaths numbered 8,307, an increase of 11 deaths since August 4. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 642 confirmed and 100 probable, Naugatuck – 3,285 confirmed and 389 probable, Oxford – 890 confirmed and 93 probable, Southbury – 1,280 confirmed and 244 probable, Woodbury – 584 confirmed and 86 probable, Watertown – 2,262 confirmed and 324 probable, and Waterbury – 15,133 confirmed and 1,833 probable.
