On Monday, August 16, 2021, Connecticut state officials said from Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. to Sunday, August 15, 2021, at 8:30 p.m., the number of COVID-19 cases in the state rose to 363,417. This is an increase of 2,123 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, August 15, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 3.55%, up from 3.52% Wednesday, August 11, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 285 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 38 patients since Wednesday. Through Wednesday, August 11, deaths numbered 8,307, an increase of 11 deaths since August 4. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 648 confirmed and 101 probable, Naugatuck – 3,312 confirmed and 396 probable, Oxford – 897 confirmed and 93 probable, Southbury – 1,289 confirmed and 244 probable, Woodbury – 585 confirmed and 86 probable, Watertown – 2,272 confirmed and 333 probable, and Waterbury – 15,188 confirmed and 1,876 probable.
