Absentee ballots are available in the Middlebury Town Clerk’s office for the May 18, 2016, budget referendum. Electors and property owners owning property assessed at $1,000 or more on the last completed grand list are eligible to vote. They also must be a U.S. citizen and at least 18 years old.
An application must be filled out before a ballot can be issued. Ballots will not be mailed. The applications are available at the Town Clerk’s office or can be downloaded from the Secretary of the State’s website at www.ct.gov/sots under Elections and Voting. Print the application form for referendum with less than three weeks’ notice.
There is one question: “Shall the 2016-2017 proposed Town of Middlebury Municipal Budget in the amount of $10,404,408 be approved?”
The Middlebury Town Clerk’s office at 1212 Whittemore Road is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Additional information may be obtained by calling the office at 203-758-2557.
