This juror for this year’s show is Linda West. She was born in Florida, traveled to New York City and received a certificate for fine art from the National Academy of Design. She also studied at The Art Students League, Grand Central Academy, and privately at the ateliers of Burt Silverman and Carlos Castano. She is a contemporary representational artist who specializes in portraiture and still life paintings. Her mediums of choice are oil painting and mixed media drawings, and she has received awards for both. Her art career began with illustration, doing jobs for Channel 13, The Wall Street Journal, Double Day Books, etc. However, her classical art training led her to portraiture with clients such as politician Jack Kemp, Johnson and Johnson family members, doctors, corporate leaders, children, etc. Last year was her first experience as co-curator for the “Art Inspired by Food” exhibition in New York City. West is working on a series of still life paintings and is on the faculty of the Washington Art Association in Connecticut.
