This is an increase of 6,344 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, December 5, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 5.80%, down from 6.52% on Wednesday, December 1, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 500 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 86 patients since Wednesday. Through Wednesday, December 1, deaths numbered 8,909, an increase of 44 deaths since November 24. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 764 (+7) confirmed and 117 (no change) probable, Naugatuck – 3,923 confirmed and 558 probable, Oxford – 1,191 confirmed and 116 probable, Southbury – 1,552 confirmed and 279 probable, Woodbury – 754 confirmed and 120 probable, Watertown – 2,724 confirmed and 421 probable, and Waterbury – 17,458 confirmed and 2,218 probable.
