This is an increase of 7,652 cases over four days. The state daily test positivity rate as of Sunday, December 19, 2021, at 8:30 p.m. was 6.85%, down from 7.14% on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at 8:30 p.m.

On Sunday at 8:30 p.m., 837  COVID-19 patients were hospitalized, an increase of 127 patients since Wednesday. Through Wednesday, December 15, deaths numbered 9,002, an increase of 56 deaths since December 8. Deaths are reported once a week.

Cumulative cases in Middlebury and abutting towns were: Middlebury – 823 (+9) confirmed and 163 (+5) probable, Naugatuck – 4,251 confirmed and 739 probable, Oxford – 1,282 confirmed and 162 probable, Southbury – 1,654 confirmed and 336 probable, Woodbury – 809 confirmed and 160 probable, Watertown – 2,892 confirmed and 510 probable, and Waterbury – 18,920 confirmed and 2,660 probable.
