Botany Walk
Saturday, May 27
10:00 AM – 12:00 PM
Larkin Preserve
Meet at the entrance on Long Meadow Road. The start of the trail is flanked by large rocks on the north side of the road, about 2/10 miles from the junction of Long Meadow and South Street.
Join the Middlebury Land Trust Botany Walk guided by biologist Bill Giuditta. Bill is a retired biology teacher, with additional experience as a plant pathologist for the US Forest Service, and as a researcher in fungicides and plant disease. He notes that “I really enjoy the diversity of habitats at our land trust properties, and love to encourage others to learn more about the natural world and our responsibility to protect it.”
Participants are encouraged to wear sturdy shoes and bring hiking poles for balance if appropriate. The group will proceed around Larkin Pond on the trail that was just updated during the Trails Work Day earlier this month.
