Middlebury
Document shredding – Minchella Law’s annual shred-it event benefiting the Wounded Warrior Project will be Saturday, November 9, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in the parking lot at 984 Southford Road in Middlebury. Securely destroy your documents in exchange for your tax-deductible donation to the Wounded Warrior Project. Visit tinyurl.com/ShredIt2024 to make your donation.
Gravestone cleaning – The Middlebury Historical Society cemetery gravestone cleaning continues Saturdays, November 9, 16 and 23, from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. in Middlebury Cemetery. Volunteers are welcome. Coordinator Tom Cunningham gives instructions to newcomers, and all supplies are furnished. Please RSVP Alice at secretary_mhs@middleburyhistoricalsociety.org if you plan to attend. Over the past five years, 800 of the 2,500 gravestones have been cleaned.
Prospect
Genealogy meeting – The Naugatuck Valley Genealogy Club will meet Saturday, November 9, at 10:30 a.m. at the Prospect Public Library at 17 Center St. in Prospect and on Zoom. Following a brief business meeting, Bryna O’Sullivan will present “Decoding French Civil Registration.” Learn how to navigate French civil registration of births, deaths, and marriages; decode these records when the genealogist does not speak French; and where a genealogist can go for help
The public is invited to attend at no charge. Members and guests may attend in person at the library. Also, members will receive Zoom invitations and nonmembers can request a Zoom invitation by emailing their full name, address, telephone number and email address to nvgcguestz2020@gmail.com no later than November 7. Southbury
Shop and Stroll – Get ready to celebrate the spirit of the season Saturday, November 9, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Main Street South will transform into a festive hub of activity for the first annual holiday Southbury Shop & Stroll. This exciting event invites community members and visitors to explore local shops and restaurants while embracing the joy of holiday shopping.

Waterbury
Free dental clinic – The 18th annual Connecticut Mission of Mercy free dental clinic will be held Saturday and Sunday, November 9 and 10, at Wilby High School at 568 Bucks Hill Road in Waterbury. The clinic provides dental care for those who cannot afford it. Doors will open at 7 a.m. For more information, visit ctmom.org.
